HOLE 4

The Par 4 fourth is extremely intimidating from the tee and gently inclines to the green at the top end. The Men's medal tee is significantly further back than the normal tee and is a real challenge. Out of bounds waits on both sides and a gnarly old tree sits left of centre around 100 yards short of the green ensuring approach shots are never straightforward. There are ditches left and right which are designated as lateral water hazards. The hole is sheltered from the wind at lower levels thanks to the major trees in the out of bounds on the left, but the minute the ball lifts it can all too often stray out of bounds. A large green awaits with two bunkers on the left and a slope on the right that loves to kick balls out of play. Top Tip : Keep the tee shot up the middle and well back from the tree and don't be fooled into thinking it's all over once you do that, the approach shot is just as tough and needs to be kept down in height to protect from any wind. A 5 is not a disaster.
